Smörgåsbord

That is the word that came to mind when I posted this necklace with an assortment of random, mixed charms. Mose of them are created by me, but a couple of them are not. It is currently available at Cliques Hair Salon in Columbia, Tennessee.

The bracelet is a pottery shard that has been framed by copper foil and soldered and combined with a mix of colorful beads. It is on a stretchy band so it is easy to wear. It is also available at Cliques.

Time Flies

Do you have any old, broken, forgotten pieces of jewelry or time pieces lying around that have too much sentimental value to throw away? I made this necklace for someone out of pocket watches that belonged to her family members and a charm pin that had heads monogrammed with the names of her sisters.  I love the challenge of combining random items with character and history to make something that is a reminder of the past and of beloved family members and is wearable for today. Contact me if you are interested.

Harbingers of Spring

As I write this, it is a scary warm February day. It is 78 degrees outside and breezy…probably a record high. I say scary, because I am reminded of a spring a few years ago when it was unseasonably warm and then, ZAP!!!! We had a hard freeze after the leaves were already out and the fruit trees had bloomed. We had no fruit that year and it took a while for the trees to recover. It’s hard to complain though.

As I hiked up into our forest to find a mossy background on which to take a shot of this necklace I just completed, I almost stepped on this groggy little fellow who had ventured out to enjoy the sunshine too. He (or she) didn’t even budge until I tickled him with a twig and then he slithered back under the leaves.

I’ve been playing with a new app on my Ipod camera, called Scratch Cam. You can get it for free from the App store. I have the free version, but it’s so fun, I think I will shell out the two bucks for the paid version and get some more textures. Now if I could just figure out the easiest way to get them off of my Ipod and into my blog.

Tiny wildflowers are peeking out of the leafy forest floor and then the real show will start very soon.

It was hard to stay in the studio on a beautiful day like today, but I have to prepare for the First Thursday Artisans Party next week (March 1) at Wall Candy on the square in the Columbia, Tennessee. The festivities are from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  Come and join the fun!

Eclectic Mix

I found some fun charm elements that I decided to combine with my vintage drawer pulls. I like the eclectic look. I hope you do too.

More Sillyness

Vintage hologram key fob, key, game pieces, glass beads, charms

I’ve had a couple of these vintage hologram key fobs for several years. I decided to finally make something out of one of them. This could add some radical color to a dull day. I think it would be a conversation starter.

Can you handle it?

Antique dresser handle, charms, watch case with photo, nest in a bottle amazonite stones

I found a use for the last two antiques dresser pull that I had. These were so fun! I’m looking for some more. If anyone knows any good antique shops near me, please let me know.
