Harbingers of Spring

As I write this, it is a scary warm February day. It is 78 degrees outside and breezy…probably a record high. I say scary, because I am reminded of a spring a few years ago when it was unseasonably warm and then, ZAP!!!! We had a hard freeze after the leaves were already out and the fruit trees had bloomed. We had no fruit that year and it took a while for the trees to recover. It’s hard to complain though.

As I hiked up into our forest to find a mossy background on which to take a shot of this necklace I just completed, I almost stepped on this groggy little fellow who had ventured out to enjoy the sunshine too. He (or she) didn’t even budge until I tickled him with a twig and then he slithered back under the leaves.

I’ve been playing with a new app on my Ipod camera, called Scratch Cam. You can get it for free from the App store. I have the free version, but it’s so fun, I think I will shell out the two bucks for the paid version and get some more textures. Now if I could just figure out the easiest way to get them off of my Ipod and into my blog.

Tiny wildflowers are peeking out of the leafy forest floor and then the real show will start very soon.

It was hard to stay in the studio on a beautiful day like today, but I have to prepare for the First Thursday Artisans Party next week (March 1) at Wall Candy on the square in the Columbia, Tennessee. The festivities are from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  Come and join the fun!

Galilee

This painting is a view of the Sea of Galilee from a photo that I took when I was there in September. I think that this shot is from the shore by the town of Caperaum . Can you imagine Yeshua walking by the shore or the disciples in their boats, casting their nets on a beautiful sunny day? It is truly a place of great natural beauty and history.

Leaves of Clay

These leaves are made of clay that was fired for me by The Royal Brush in Columbia, Tennessee. Is anyone interested in taking a class in which we will make clay pendants and create necklaces from them? There are unlimited options of designs that can be made. They have asked me to teach a class if there is enough interest. Please either contact me through my link here on the site or through their Facebook page let them know that you are interested. It would require one class to make the pendants and then after they are fired, another one to construct the necklaces. Price is to be determined when we find out if there is an interest. It would probably be on a Thursday evening or a Sunday afternoon.

By The Sea

Well, I wish it was really by the sea, but it is just a photo of sand behind a new ocean themed necklace I just finished. I combined another one of my vintage drawer pulls with freshwater pearls and brass charms and a mother of pearl charm.

Thanks for the great turn out for this month’s First Thursday Artists’ Party. We have decided to make it a monthly event so mark your calendars! I’ll keep you posted.
